I know who the heir of Slytherin is

OK, let’s stop for a minute. You’ve all done your homework and read Harry Potter, right?

In book two, you remember there’s the first mention that the heir of Slytherin is in the school. Almost everyone thinks it could be Harry, considering he’s a Parselmouth and he’s already in the same power league as You-know-who. Even Harry wonders if he is, notably because of the Sorting Hat reminding him that he could as well have ended up in Slytherin House.

Who’s been walking all around the School for the whole duration of the story, at inappropriate times and in unexpected places? After all, Riddle was a Prefect, and a Head Boy, too.

«He sounds like Percy,» said Ron, wrinkling his nose in disgust. «Prefect, Head Boy... probably top of every class —»

«You say that like it’s a bad thing,» said Hermione in a slightly hurt voice.

Vice has always assumed the guise of Virtue...

Then Percy was doing something and Ginny Weasley saw him, it seems, and she was about to tell Harry and Ron about it when Percy came and she left. Then he’s acting funny, brooding in his dormitory.

What? I’m mistaken, you say? I don’t mind, I got your mind wondering. That’s all that ever counted, isn’t it. (and then by the end of the book everyone knows that Percy is not the heir of Slytherin, and there’s no possible doubt left, and that’s sad, yet good that we had a false lead, it’s what made the story so interesting).
